Just when you thought gas prices were stabilizing

I heard by this summer you'll have to give up your honor, trustworthiness, and punctuality. Customers lacking punctuality will be required to substitute a specified number of creative excuses based on a variable exchange rate.

Snow in the UK

02/04/09 | by cole | Categories: Ramblings and Rants

Why it's more fun to have a snow day in London: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC0twcvcAnY. (I should warn you that someone swears in the background at the end if you're watching this with your kids.)

You may have heard that the Brits recently (Monday, Feb 2, 2009) got the worst snowstorm in 18 yrs, and the general populous enjoyed the snow day. They did a segment on NPR on it the other day. They have no snow removal and all that, so everything shuts down.

Check out how much snow they have in the video--almost nill. It's 6 to 8 inches. You can see the ground under the snow and where people have been walking. So, clearly if they can have that much fun with that little snow, think what we might do... you know, if it would stay above 20 degrees F for a day or so.

Have it you'r way

I took this photo at the gas station down the road from my house. I like this. It's a fresh take on the whole your/you're debate. If you're not sure which to use, here's a compromise. Maybe you can please both camps. You're not going all the way to the liberal left and including the "e" for "you're," but you're also not giving into those folks on the right who advocate the stark "your."

It's got flare and panache. It doesn't play by anyone's rules. Like you. It's you'r way.

This isn't quite engrish worthy in my book, but if you liked this, you'll certainly enjoy: www.engrish.com.

Phelps-Kobayashi Mash Up II

09/05/08 | by cole | Categories: Ramblings and Rants

Ok, this is bizarre, but it's all the walrus' fault. Let me explain.

Rob read this article that said Michael Phelps eats 12,000 calories per day, which goes something like this:

Breakfast: Three fried-egg sandwiches loaded with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions and mayonnaise. Two cups of coffee. One five-egg omelet. One bowl of grits. Three slices of French toast topped with powdered sugar. Three chocolate-chip pancakes.

Lunch: One pound of enriched pasta. Two large ham and cheese sandwiches with mayo on white bread. Energy drinks packing 1,000 calories.

Dinner: One pound of pasta. An entire pizza. More energy drinks.

I'm just copying this bit directly from Rob's post here, but I think Rob copied it from the original article, so my level of chagrin is low.

Rob ends his post suggesting that Phelps take up competitive eating and take down hot dog cramming champion Kobayashi. He also suggests that competitive eating become an Olympic event in the 2016 games, which is just silliness, and I won't repeat that here. Still, the walrus has created this fantastically rendered "what if" morph of Kobayashi and Phelps, and tonight I felt compelled to follow in his new internet meme.

So, there you go. Someone go edit Wikipedia's list of internet phenomena page and make us famous... without legal action being involved, preferably. Or, just go make your own and spread the new meme.

Here are the original two images I used, because I think it's amusing to compare:

New Coca-Cola fountains to dispense 100-flavors

Mmm... flavors.

100 Flavor Coke Dispenser

Click for the original article.

Does Coke even offer 100 flavors? I think part of the feasibility study for this would be to determine how many combinations of "Cherry" + "Vanilla" + "Lime" + "Cola" that people will be able to swill down w/o gagging.

But, don't get me wrong. I'm all for more choice! Thanks for the heads up, Eric.

The Brack Blog

This is a blog about the Brack family, focusing primarily on the kids. Let's be honest. That's why you're here anyway. The Brack adults are just uninteresting large people who serve to provide you with pictures of the children and stories of their recent hijinks.
